Juhar Yasin ABAMOSA
Juhar Yasin Abamosa is a PhD Candidate at the University of Bergen in Norway. His main research interest is inclusion of refugees into higher education both as students and as staff. After he graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Oslo in 2015, he worked as a programme-advisor for refugees in a Norwegian Labour and Welfare Organisation (NAV) for six months. In addition to the formal and offi cial position that he held as a programme adviser, he has volunteered in various areas. He helped refugees get the right information on the higher education system in Norway through a volunteer group called ’Akademisk Dugnad’, a joint initiative the University of Oslo, University College of Oslo and Akershus. He has taught Afan Oromo (the Oromo Language) to the children at the Oromo Refugee Community in Oslo, participated in the Odysseus Summer School and in a seminar on Social Innovation for Refugee Inclusion.
