Javier Carbonell is a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh, with a focus on inequality, nationalism and environmental policies. He also teaches at Sciences Po, Paris, and Pompeu Fabra University. He is a visiting fellow at CIDOB, a research fellow at Future Policy Lab, an associate at LSE IDEAS and a member of the steering committee of the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism (ASEN). He regularly writes for El País. He holds an MSc in international relations from LSE, as well as two bachelor’s degrees, one in political science and one in Hispanic studies. He has been awarded the Alice Brown, Rafael del Pino and La Caixa” scholarships.
