FEPS Next Left Focus Group concluded its fourth and final session of the year. We discussed the articles that, now reviewed and peer-approved, will feed into vol. 15 of the Next Left book series. This volume will offer critical analyses and policy proposals for 2024 and beyond.

We explored pressing questions, such as: How to promote democracy in the workplace? Are there lessons in Biden’s economics for the European Progressives? How can the centre-left champion the triple transformation in the political narrative? What are the benchmarks of progress? How can social democrats win elections and return to power? Is there a way of making progressive governance distinctive in times of poly-crisis? and many others.

The meeting constituted an integral part of the Next Left Research Programme, which was launched in 2009 with the support of the Karl-Renner-Institut and chaired by Andreas Schieder, MEP and Head of the SPO EP Delegation.

During this 48-hour seminar, FEPS Next Left FG Members engaged in discussions with influential figures like Andreas Schieder, László Andor, FEPS Secretary General, and MEPs Matthias Ecke, Joao Albuquerque, Brando Benifei, Matjaž Nemec, and Marek Belka. They were also joined by FEPS YAN representatives, who brought a critical voice to the debate and helped link diverse conversations on the future of social democracy.
