The closing event for the ‘Gender Equality: how to pursue it in the context of right wing, authoritarian regimes? The cases of Hungary and Serbia Project’, took place on International Women’s Day, the 8th of March 2024 in Budapest. The project has conducted research into the gendered aspects of Central Eastern European countries backsliding into authoritarianism. This included two training events in Budapest, Hungary and Novi Sad, Serbia, which focused on the decline in democracy and Gender Policy backsliding in both countries.

The Deputy Mayor of Budapest, Kata Tüttő, moderated the presentation of the research conducted by András Pulai, managing director of the Publicus Institute, strategy director, and Tamara Tripic, Chair of the Board of the Democratic Dialogue Network. Katarzyna Ueberhan, a Member of the Polish Parliament, spoke about the present-day situation of Gender Equality in Poland.
