Sara Cerdas is a Portuguese medical doctor and, since July of 2019, a Member of the European Parliament. She is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) and the Special Committee on COVID-19 (COVI).

Sara Cerdas is the co-chair of the European Parliament’s Working Group on Health, which brings to discussion European health issues with different stakeholders and experts. She was vice-president of the Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA). Sara was shadow rapporteur for the S&D group on the European Health Program “EU4Health” and on the regulation on serious cross-border threats to health and was recently appointed shadow rapporteur by the S&D group for the regulation that will create the European Health Data Space.

She holds a master’s degree in Medicine from the University of Lisbon, a postgraduate degree in traveler’s medicine from NOVA University Lisbon, a master’s degree in Public Health from Umeå University and is a doctoral student in Public Health Sciences at the University of Stockholm
